1ct lab-grown diamonds explained

A 1ct diamond is the classic engagement size — balanced, versatile and clearly visible on the hand. Carat is weight, not size — how large a 1ct diamond looks depends on its cut and shape, so two 1ct stones can face up quite differently. Use the "see it true to size" tool on any product to judge the real face-up dimensions on a finger.

Every diamond here is lab-grown — a real diamond with the same carbon crystal structure, hardness and fire as a mined stone, created above ground in a matter of weeks rather than extracted over millennia. Because origin is the only difference, you typically pay 60–80% less than the mined equivalent for the same look, and every stone is conflict-free and traceable.

Getting the most from a 1ct diamond

  • Favour an excellent cut — a well-cut stone looks bigger and brighter than a poorly cut one of the same weight.
  • Elongated shapes (oval, marquise, pear) tend to look larger than round for the same carat.
  • Stay eye-clean — VS clarity or better keeps the stone flawless to the naked eye.
  • Set your budget by the 4Cs together rather than chasing carat alone.
