A 2-carat lab-grown diamond is a big, statement-sized stone, and it costs far less than most people expect. In our catalogue, certified 2-carat stones in several shapes are available for well under €1,000, which is a fraction of what a mined 2-carat diamond usually costs.
This guide shows real 2-carat lab-grown diamond prices from our catalogue, explains what makes one 2-carat stone cost more than another, and covers how big a 2-carat looks by shape. For prices across all sizes, see how much lab-grown diamonds cost.

What affects the price of a 2-carat diamond?
Shape
Round brilliants usually cost more per carat than fancy shapes, because more rough is lost when cutting them. Emerald, radiant, cushion and marquise stones are often better value at the same weight.
Colour and clarity
At 2 carats, colour and inclusions are slightly easier to see than in small stones. Many buyers choose G or H colour and VS2 or better clarity. Step-cut shapes such as emerald show inclusions more clearly, so VS1 or better is a safer choice for those.
Cut quality
A well-cut stone looks brighter and often larger face-up. For round diamonds, an Excellent or Ideal cut grade is worth prioritising over a higher colour grade.
Exact weight
Prices step up at popular weights. A stone at 1.90 to 1.99 carats looks practically the same as a 2.00-carat stone and can cost less.
How big is a 2-carat diamond?
Carat measures weight, not size. A well-cut 2-carat round is approximately 8.0 to 8.2 mm across. The table gives approximate face-up sizes by shape.
| Shape | Approximate size of a 2.00 ct stone |
|---|---|
| Round | about 8.1 mm diameter |
| Oval | about 10 × 7 mm |
| Emerald | about 8.5 × 6.3 mm |
| Cushion | about 7.5 × 7.5 mm |
| Pear | about 11 × 7 mm |
| Marquise | about 15 × 7.5 mm |
On most hands, a 2-carat stone covers a large part of the width of the finger. If you are unsure, compare with our guide to how big a 1-carat diamond is.
Is a 2-carat lab-grown diamond worth it?
For many buyers, yes. You get a large, certified stone at a price that would buy a much smaller mined diamond. The trade-off is resale value, which is low for lab-grown stones. Our guide to lab-grown diamond value explains this honestly.
If you are buying for an engagement ring, a 2-carat stone in a setting from about €490 often still comes in at a lower total than a 1-carat mined diamond alone. Try it in our ring customizer.

Frequently asked questions
What is the cheapest 2-carat lab-grown diamond?
On 26 October 2026, 2-carat listings in our catalogue started around €660, for example a 2.04 ct round F SI1 and a 2 ct emerald H VS2. Prices change as stones sell.
Does a 2-carat lab-grown diamond look real?
It is real. A lab-grown diamond is chemically and optically the same as a mined diamond, and cannot be told apart by eye.
Which shape gives the most size for 2 carats?
Elongated shapes such as marquise, pear and oval look largest face-up. Our marquise guide explains why.
Is 2 carats too big for an engagement ring?
It depends on the hand and the style. On slim fingers a 2-carat stone looks bold; an oval or emerald can look more elegant than a round of the same weight.
Do 2-carat lab-grown diamonds come with a certificate?
Yes. Every stone we sell has an IGI or GIA grading report.
