What VS clarity means
VS1 and VS2 sit one step above SI and one step below VVS on the clarity scale. The inclusions are minor and typically need 10x magnification to find; VS1 stones are the cleaner of the two, with inclusions that are harder to locate even under the loupe. In practice both grades are eye-clean in every size we sell, so the choice between them is about the certificate rather than the look.
Where VS earns its place is in larger stones and in step cuts. An emerald or asscher cut has wide, open facets that act like windows into the stone, so an inclusion that would hide under the sparkle of a round brilliant can be easier to spot. If you are buying an emerald cut or an asscher, VS is the sensible floor.
What near-colorless means for these stones
All the diamonds on this page are graded G or H, the top two grades of the near-colorless range. They face up white on the hand, and the trace of warmth that separates them from a colorless D–F stone is a grading-room distinction rather than something you see in the ring. Is VS clarity eye-clean?
Yes. VS1 and VS2 inclusions are found under 10x magnification, not by eye. Every stone is photographed and inspected in Sweden before dispatch, so you can see the actual diamond before you commit.
Is VS1 better than VS2?
VS1 has fewer or smaller inclusions and costs more. Both are eye-clean, so VS2 is usually the better value unless the stone is a step cut, where the cleaner grade is easier to justify.
What is the difference between VS and VVS?
VVS inclusions are smaller and harder to find, even for a grader with a loupe. Neither grade shows anything to the naked eye, so the difference is on the report and in the price.
Are G and H colour good grades?
